Serial to Parallel I/O |

MVC designed and built this Serial to Parallel I/O board. It is set up to drive an Opto-22 modular I/O rack, configurable for up to 24 inputs or 24 outputs, or any combination of inputs and outputs for 8, 16, or 24 position racks. The controlling RPU uses SPI type serial communications to talk to the board. It may be up to 500' away. Up to four boards may be operated in series from one SPI port. This arrangement allows the I/O to be put close to the circuits being controlled, eliminating long conduits and large bundles of wires. The un-used section at the bottom of the board may be configured to collect and condition analog inputs for easier cabling back to the RPU. |
